Ciao Bellas! How are you? How are you holding up?
I’m doing okay, I’m enjoying writing for Romeing magazine and living my funky life in Italy. I know ‘Emily in Paris’ is all the rage but what about ‘Georgia in Rome’? The parallels are uncanny! I feel like I have lots of opportunities to express my creativity and grow as a writer and person here.
I have my ‘wobbly’ days as my friend Bee likes to endearingly nickname ‘down days’, due to the pandemic’s impact but I always seem to find glimpses of beauty around. Luckily Rome is a yellow zone area in Italy, which means it is not in lockdown, therefore I can enjoy a cappuccino in a café or browse in some shops- keeps me sane! So this post is not necessarily deep or meaningful but it captures little, simple pleasures of my current world. It’s full of hope and relaxation. Enjoy! x
Taken myself on little foodie dates!
Like this avocado delight near Piazza Venezia…

Or when I went for a coffee and a sweet treat with a friend…

Enjoyed Rome’s exhibitions…
Like when I wandered around art galleries to write an art review later that day…

Stepped down a quiet cobbled street one Saturday morning…

Or spied a vibrant display in Monti…

Simply marvelled at my surroundings…
Looked up at the sky and spied ripe lemons, the smart edges of a roof and trees that mimic paintings…

Peered into this dusty bookshop bar in Monti…

One Friday afternoon I went to a press conference near the Trevi Fountain, dressed all in black…

My friend who lives near Villa Ada has a shabby chic balcony…

When the weather was warmer a few weeks back and Trastevere was in full candyfloss bloom…

Weekends are for seafood pasta, as fresh as can be, as fresh as the sea…

Been a tourist whilst there are no tourists about…
The city is quiet because of the pandemic, there was no-one at this viewpoint other than myself and my friend Jess!

Allowed the Italian fashion scene to rub off on me!
Bought myself some olive green leather leggings…

Appreciated the natural world, whilst still being in a city.
A flower shop man gave me a free rose…

Villa Ada is super close to where I live…

Window shopped to fill my mind with aesthetic inspiration!
Admired this vintage sewing machine in a boutique shop…

Also spotted some vintage Louis Vuitton…

Got sandy toes at the beach!
Relaxed at Santa Marinella on a warm November day…

Had lots of hot drinks.
On chillier days my ‘go to’ comfort is salted caramel…mmm!

A magical elixir to keep me going on a rainy Sunday…

Walks with friends…
There can still be meaningful connections in a pandemic.

Waited at the bus stop with a view of this…

Asked a barman to make me a bitter gin cocktail…

Watched Gilmore Girls because it ALWAYS brings me joy and comfort.

And Rome has enchanting apartments…

Despite the very stressful nature of the world…

I am perfecting the art of the eye smile…

Keeping safe, trying to get daily doses of sunshine and looking after myself.
